The Wisconsin EMS Association Announces Board of Directors for 2023 Fiscal Year
Wind Lake, WI — The Wisconsin EMS Association (WEMSA) is pleased to announce its Board of Directors for the 2023 Fiscal Year. We welcome two new board members and congratulate two current WEMSA board members for being re-elected for another three year term each. We would like to thank current board members David Gross and Katy Frey for their service on our Board of Directors fulfilling vacancies as their term comes to an end June 2023.
We would like to thank the other candidates who applied for our Board of Directors who weren't elected this year. We encourage past candidates and members interested in our Board of Directors to apply again as every year our Board of Directors has four spots that come up for election.
Welcome Wyatt!
Wyatt Sachen works part-time as an Advanced EMT with Black River Falls Fire Department-EMS Division. He has been involved with EMS since 2014.Wyatt grew up in rural Iowa until he moved to Black River Falls a few years ago. He currently works full time at Gundersen Health System as a Lead Emergency Medical Dispatcher which entails dispatching ambulances, helicopters and taking medical calls.
Being involved with Black River Falls EMS he has shown his true passion for EMS and decided to take it upon himself to train new employees as well as continuing education training for providers. He also works closely with their full- time staff, Fire Chief and Medical Director to update their medical guidelines.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time Ski Patrolling during the Winter and being outside, on the lake kayaking or camping.
Welcome Adam!
Adam Robarge is the Deputy EMS Chief for Tomah Area Ambulance Service. He has been involved in EMS for 22 years, starting as an EMT-Basic and progressing to a Critical Care Paramedic and Deputy EMS Chief. He holds a Bachelors in Emergency Medical Services Administration and an Associates in Emergency Services Administration.
Twenty-two years of EMS in a rural community has allowed him to experience everything from being a volunteer, paid on-call EMT-Basic, to leading a career Critical Care Transport Paramedic Service. Adam’s areas of interest in serving the Wisconsin EMS Association and its members are primarily advocacy and the financial wellbeing of EMS organizations across the State of Wisconsin. He is from Tomah along with his loving, beautiful wife, and their four children.
Evelynn Dax Re-elected!
Evelynn Dax was recently reelected to the Board of Directors for another three year board term from 2023 to 2026. She has served on the WEMSA Board for the last three years.
Evelynn Dax is a proud resident of northwest Wisconsin and is excited at the prospect of representing rural populations and EMS providers by serving on the WEMSA board. This summer marks Evelynn's second year working for Mayo Clinic Ambulance. This year marks her sixteenth year in EMS, Evelynn spent fourteen years as an EMT with Washburn Ambulance before moving to Eau Claire to work with Mayo. Recently she completed her schooling and received her Paramedic license.
Always striving for more and wanting to impact others interested in EMS, Evelynn decided to share her passion for emergency medicine by becoming an instructor with her local technical college, WITC. Here, Evelynn currently teaches CPR, first aid, and EMT-B classes. Evelynn was proud to be part of Rescue Divas EMS Summer Camp for Girls, a weeklong residential summer camp, educating and inspiring middle school-aged girls about everything EMS-related. She assisted with the development of Rescue Divas and has spent four summers as an on-site camp counselor for Rescue Divas.
She looks forward to serving on the WEMSA board for another three years and is excited to see what the future brings.
Jay Young Re-elected!
Jay Young was recently reelected to the Board of Directors for another three year board term from 2023 to 2026. He has served on the WEMSA Board since 2018 initially fulfilling a board vacancy, being elected to a full three year term in 2020 and is currently the Treasurer of the Association.
Jay’s EMS career began as an EMT with the Bloomer Ambulance Service in 1990. Bloomer Ambulance is a rural ambulance service which serves 9,000 people and is staffed by all volunteer EMTs. Jay enjoys working as an EMT in his hometown and helping people in the community that he lives in.
Since 2012 Jay has also worked with Mayo Ambulance as an EMT serving the Northwest Wisconsin Region. Mayo Ambulance provides a 911 ambulance service for the communities of Barron and Osseo while also serving numerous hospitals as a transfer ambulance service.
On the WEMSA Board Jay values being able to represent all Wisconsin EMS members as he feels that he brings a unique voice to the board coming from rural Wisconsin. Jay looks forward to serving another three year term to help keep Wisconsin EMS moving in the right direction!

The Board Secretary vacancy will be voted on at the next board meeting to take place in July when the new board members official term begins.
