You can get involved by joining a committee, advocating for EMS legislation, applying for our Board of Directors, volunteering at our events, authoring articles for our magazine, joining our Student Mentorship program, providing photos, or assisting with task forces working to drive awareness, promote EMS careers, and drive change across Wisconsin.

COMMITTEES

Political Action Committee (WEMSA-PAC)

The Political Action Committee, known as the Advocacy Committee. is involved with all aspect of legislation in Wisconsin regarding EMS. They help to provide insight into how legislation will affect all different types of departments and services across the state and decide on supporting or opposing legislation. This committee is open to Board members and non-Board members.

Education Committee

The Education Committee is involved with all aspect of WEMSA's educational offerings, including webinars, events, conferences, podcasts, articles, and more. Their focus is the direction of education for EMS in Wisconsin. This committee is open to Board members and non- Board members.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is involved in all aspects of membership recruitment, membership benefits, and membership involvement. This is a crucial committee to the association as WEMSA is a member-based association. This committee is open to Board members and non-Board members.

 

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is made up of Board members, including the Treasurer to oversee the financial directions of the association. This committee is not open to non-Board members.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee only includes specific board appointed members including the President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Immediate Past President. This committee is not open to non-Board members.

 

HOW TO JOIN A COMMITTEE

You must be an Active WEMSA Member to join any of WEMSA's Committees. Please reach out to our office at wemsa@wisconsinems.com and let us know you have an interest in a committee. Committees have a combination of active Board Members and non-Board members. Committee meetings are held virtually either monthly or quarterly, depending on the committee.

COMMITTEE BENEFITS

Committee Members are active in networking with other EMS professionals and can get access to first-to-know information in their related committees. In addition, members can build relationships and contacts in EMS and with other key stakeholders across the state. Committee Members get to be involved in decisions surrounding EMS and can help to provide insights and knowledge. Joining a committee is a great way to be more involved.

Submit your fire and emergency medical services (EMS) photos to the Wisconsin EMS Association (WEMSA) for use in our publications and training materials.

Although we can't pay you for your work, please know that the photos you send us for consideration will help drive awareness and outreach for EMS in Wisconsin.

Please do not include photos that illustrate unsafe behaviors, close-up EMS care or sponsorship of fire equipment.


Photo Requirements

The minimum requirement is that you take a photo with your smart phone (or digital camera) in landscape orientation and send it to us at the largest setting. Color photos are preferred. Please remove any personal or professional watermarks before sending your photo.

2025 BOARD APPLICATIONS

Each year, four positions are elected by the membership to the 12-member board. Each term is for three years, with the term to begin on July 1, 2024.

Board members provide financial oversight, establish strategic goals, provide advocacy, and help to advance the Association’s mission. They attend monthly (or ad hoc) committee and quarterly board calls, annual meetings, attend and participate in the annual conference, review, and provide timely response to documents and office communications, and participate in other Association events, as necessary.

Qualified candidates will possess visionary leadership and should be willing to put their skills and knowledge to use, be able to dedicate time to the mission of the Association, and to assist the WEMSA Board in providing a vision for Wisconsin EMS in the future. Candidates should also have experience and/ or interest in advocacy, board development, education, finance, membership, publications or strategic planning.
